I am a married lesbian Vocational Deacon in the Diocese of Southern Ohio, ordained on 14 June 2008. I am the Legislative Liaison for the Diocese of Southern Ohio to state and federal government. I serve as the chair of the Social Justice Network and Public Policy Commission.
I am the Deacon-In-Charge of the In The Garden Ministry at Trinity Episcopal Church on Capitol Square, Columbus, OH (part of the Ecclesia Street Ministry), as well as part-time staff at Saint John’s Episcopal Church Worthington, OH, and guest supply deacon and preacher throughout the Diocese.
I serve as the Executive Director of the Columbus Metropolitan Area Church Council; am a board member of the Columbus Shelter Board and Interfaith Association Of Central Ohio. I participate in numerous ecumenical justice organizations including Faith in Public Life (Washington, DC), Ohio Council of Churches, We Believe Ohio, Faith Coalition for the Common Good, Ohio Interfaith Immigration Committee, Mayor’s Interfaith Relations Advisory Commission and the Columbus Faith Leaders Action Group (FLAG).
My wife, Dr Karen Peeler, and I were legally married in Greenwich Village, New York on Friday, 13 December 2013 after almost sixteen years together. We celebrated a Covenant Blessing of a Lifelong Commitment on 17 May 2014 at Trinity Episcopal Church on Capitol Square, Columbus, OH.
